I was wondering if someone could help me out. I have a 2005 GMC 1500HD QS, and i need to replace my tie rod ends in the front. My problem is that the chilton book shows the tie rod end going through the top with the nut on the bottom, but mine is set up with it going through the bottom with the nut on top. Can someone tell me which way is the right way?

Your truck is correct. The nut is on top.

Ok but do you know what would happen if I reversed it? I put a 3" leveling kit on my truck so now the tie rods seem like they are stressed out to far and would be level if I reversed it. But I also don't want to mess up the front end. Any info would be appreciated.

I would take your truck to a good front end shop. The shop should work on front ends only. Don't go to a tire shop, they won't know what to do with a non stock truck. Most shops won't know how to align a QS eather. I gave my guy the settings from my factory books because the local GMC dealer had no clue and could not find the settings for the rear. They will need to realign your truck after you change the tierods. They should know what needs to be changed to bring the rods down. Most of the rods have a taper. You can't turn them over.
