I am confused about which gear I should tow in 3rd or 4th I have the tow switch but the truck shifts to much when in 4th gear?

I wouldn't tow in overdrive, Keep it in 3rd

Thanks, I was not sure that 4th was overdrive. I though that the tow button when engaged took it out of overdrive as I learn more now I understand that tow button makes it shift better but does not take it out of overdrive. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks again

You are correct. The Tow/Haul button does not stop the truck from going into overdrive. What it does do is make the shifts longer so as to keep you in the lower gears longer. According to GM if you have a tow/haul button there is no longer the requirement to drive the vehicle in 3rd gear. This is due to the fact the button with its programing will keep the truck in the necessary gearing for effective towing. Have a nice day.
