'03 1500 4x4 4ws. Issues: 1)slight thudding sound that is felt and heard at very low speeds from under the truck, in stop and start traffic for example.
2) Rubbing noise from rear end at low speeds when turning, no apparent contact can be seen but it sounds like tires rubbing against something. 3) Occassional "shudder" when taking off slowly from a stop. Any ideas from the the experts on this board? 2003 Silverado 4x4 Quadrasteer, 74,000 miles and counting. 1989 Celebrity, 34,000 miles and counting..slowly. |

Have your rear end fluid changed....and only use the GM specified lube. That will take care of your problem.
Been there done that. Spaniel, make them sign in blood that they are using QUADRASTEER SPECIFIED REAR END LUBE!
In another thread here you'll find a couple dozen guys who had big headaches when non-quadrasteer lube was used. You can even find the part numbers on that thread. __________________________________________________________________ 2005 GMC Sierra 1500HD CrewCab 4x4 Quadrasteer, 6.0L, 3.73 Undercover Tonneau, Speedliner in bed, wheelwells, & rockers (color matched) Pioneer AVIC-D1 w/NavTraffic, iPod interface, & Back-up camera Westers 89/91 custom PCM tune, & flow-matched injectors To come: e-fans, summer 180 degree thermostat "I don't know what makes 'em work baby, I just drive 'em, ...WOOF, WOOF" |

My plan is to write the part # on the work order and then talk to the tech before the work starts.

Good luck with that spaniel. Been my experience, some of the techs are only as smart as what the computer tells them.

Thanks all. Lube change done on Saturday and the issue seems to be fixed...knock on wood (the rubbing noise was gone after the diff service, but returned briefly just once, now gone again).
