List is $529... but no one here pays list
I offer all my customers 10% rebates. When I can get 5 or more buyers to purchase at once (otherwise known as a group buy), I can bump that to 15%, and when we get 7~8 buyers (depends), I can sometimes talk 'em into 20%, but that's kinda pushing it forless than 10 buyers. There are two or three authorized factory sales per year where I can offer 20%, sometimes maybe possibly perhaps even more, depending on how many people are in, local weather conditions, the time of the month for my wife, etc. !!!! If you want more info, PM me and I'll load ya up WAY-GOOD stuff, for sure. You'll be very hard-pressed to find unhappy Wester's customers Look in the vendor section, there's a bunch of info in there. ______________________________________________________________________ MrQuadrasteer QuadrasteerClub.com 2003 Chevy 1500HD CrewCab 2wd Quadrasteer 6.0l, 4L80E, 3.73 Wester's 91/93 tune, aFe cai, 186* stat, t/body bypass, E-Load Revos 302rwhp |

Well, I got the word today. Due to excessive heat, the gears in the rearend became warped. This lead to uneven wear and rounding of the teeth. Both the ring and pinion gears are messed up like this. The dealership is waiting to hear from the extended warranty people if it gets rebuilt or replaced. Nobody knows what caused the heat buildup, maybe low oil level. God, I miss my truck!!!

Newbie,
I am running 87 for those numbers, but I have notice 91 gets me better mileage. It is about a wash when you loko at price/mile. I will fill up with 91 when the tank is completely empty or when I want the power, but i try not doing that too ofter @ $3.10/gal. Sorry Eric, I did not mean to freak you out, but I REALLY wanted 15 mpg! I love it. I will be driving to northern CA at the end of the month and taking the truck. I will fill with 91 and see what I can do! Eric, when you can get the AFe, let me know. I think I am interested. 2005 GMC Sierra 1500HD CrewCab 4wd Quadrasteer, Wester's 87/91 tune |

I took my truck to Chevy to check out the rear end noise, and of course they didn't hear anything. Well, they still have the truck to replace the instrument cluster, the speedo is notchy when slowing down from high speeds, but try as I might, they wouldn't replace mine with an SS cluster (bastards).
I told them at Chevy that someone I know had their rear end making noises and it turned out that their gears were grinding themselves down. He said that their QC (quality control) guy will look at it tomorrow. I've got an Equinox as a rental - GM's picking it up. What a pile! There are so many blind spots in it, it makes me wish I paid for the insurance coverage. My QS crewcab can make a turn sharper than this Equinuts! On a side note - Of you guys that have OnStar and use it, did you know that after 2007, OnStar is not required to carry an analog signal. Almost all the Silverado / Sierra trucks that came with OnStar have an analog system. If you want to change over to a digital system it'll cost you $549 and it includes 3 years of Safe and Sound service, about $183 a year - so it's a wash. But it still pisses me off that they installed outdated equipment in some vehicles while they installed the newer equipment in other vehicles at the same time. I miss my truck. I'll never be able to go back to a non QS truck - MY GAWD! I'M HOOKED! OK, I think I figured it out. The Extended Warranty people suck. They say the ONLY way the gears could have heated up is by running low on oil. But when I changed the oil, I used Mobil 1, which doesn't have friction modifyer in it. The owners mannual says to use a specific GM oil for the QS. It also says "don't add friction modifyer". I found out that the QS oil from GM already has the modifyer in it. So, if you use any other oil, you must add the modifyer. I didn't, so I believe thats where the noise and the heat came from. It ate the clutch pack, $850.00 to fix. What a bite in the pants.
I'll cancell the extended warranty and use that money to fix the situation. Let me know what 'yall think. 2003 GMC 1500 hd, Q-steer, 4x4, Crewcab, SLT, 285/75/16 Revos. |

Update:
I'm supposed to get my truck back today - I got a call yesterday stating that they heard the noise in my rear axle. Now they are saying that if the rear end is not serviced on a regular basis, it will make that noise, this is normal. They are charging me $185 for a rear end service - and this should take care of it. If it doesn't it there's going to be hell to pay. Oh wait, it gets better - While the lot porter was moving my truck, he hit the wall with the front corner of my bumper, They said they will take care of it. You better believe they're going to take care of it! I had a soup can hit the front edge of the hood at 70 mph on the freeway a while back. I should make them take care of that at the same time too. If they balk about that, I'll tell them that I'll pick up the material, they just pay for the labor. Besides it's all about customer service. Right? Got my truck back...
The rear end noise was cured by the rear end service. The service advisor said that the axle lube should be changed every 30,000 miles. On my last truck I went almost 100k before changing the lube in my axle - and that was a locking diff, and had no damage either. On the scrape - The service manager wasn't there on Friday so I'll have to hit him up on Monday for the extra repairs. I asked for a trans fluid and filter change - when I got home I looked at my receipt and it called it a "trans service and flush". I couldn't see any parts such as a filter or pan gasket. I'll have to ask about that one on Monday also. I asked them to check my A/C 'cause sometimes it doesn't blow cold. They replaced a low pressure switch and added refrigerant. They wanted to charge me for the refrigerant. I argued that if the repair called for freon to be added then the warranty should cover it! They said that they had to add it. I told them if the repair required them to add it then there is a problem or a leak with the system since it's a closed system. They finally backed down and didn't charge me the $40 for the freon. Jeez, I'm glad I've got little knowledge of auto mechanics otherwise I would have left there rubbing my butt and wondering why I didn't get a kiss. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise. The warranty people said they'd cover the repairs. Thursday of last week they were deciding either to rebuild or replace the rearend. I've not heared anything from them yet, or anything from the dealer as to how far they got. I imagine it will take a couple of days to get all the parts in, reguardless of which direction they decide to go. I figure that I'll either get my truck on Monday or a rental car (covered by the warranty). I was out of town from Thursday to Sunday, so I hope they did something while I was gone. I guess I'll know more in the morning.

Well, they decided to replace the rearend with a new one. The new one will be shipped to the dealer this week, which means I should get my baby back around Thursday. In the meantime, I get the honor of driving a Malibu with a 4-banger. Yea!!! Feel the power!

Well, cool you're getting a whole new rearend. Sucks being w/out your truck.
Be careful in that 'Bu. They can be handfuls !!! Crew, just another example of why I loathe every single visit to the dealer. It seams good, honest, customer-service driven dealers are so few and far between, they're like urban legands !!! Hope you get that all worked out. ______________________________________________________________________ MrQuadrasteer QuadrasteerClub.com 2003 Chevy 1500HD CrewCab 2wd Quadrasteer 6.0l, 4L80E, 3.73 Wester's 91/93 tune, aFe cai, 186* stat, t/body bypass, E-Load Revos 302rwhp |

Did I say Malibu? It's not JUST a Malibu. It's a Malibu Classic, with 4 doors and cloth seats. It also has AM/FM and a large trunk. It's a sweet ride. I'm thinking of trading in my truck on it, if they'll let me.
Have I ever mentioned that I like to use sarchasm when I'm ticked off? 2003 GMC 1500 hd, Q-steer, 4x4, Crewcab, SLT, 285/75/16 Revos. |
