Welcome to the Quadrasteer Club, Jon Nelson! Smiler

I happen to have the exact same rig you do, so if you have any questions, holler!

Your Yukon XL 2500 Quadrasteer (and Suburban equivalent) is the most manuverable (and sought after, according to the "wanted" posts) of all the Quadrasteer models, due to it having the shortest wheelbase (130") of any other truck that Quadrasteer was ever installed on.

I do have questions!!!

I don't have any service records that came with the 37k miler I just bought

So - first off going to refill the rear diff with the proper GM Quad stuff mentioned on this site (FYI my GM dealer didn't even show that part number till I insisted that it was correct - BUT was able to order the fluid and have it here THAT DAY!)

Next...

What transmission fluid are you folks using?

What shocks are you using? I tow and load the back end a LOT so the factory shocks are going in the trash...

Also, anybody added a transmission cooler?

THANKS!

Dear Jon

I had the same problem with the dealer not having the correct oil. This is the main reason they have smoked so many QS rearends by installing the wrong oil. Even the head tech did not know that there was a QS only oil.

Gm sent a letter too their service departments about two years ago. They were told to start installing Full Synthetic Transmission Fluid in all transmissions. I found this out after they replaced a factory rebuild trans. in my 1993 Chevy truck. I switched my 2005 GMC 1500 HD QS over in Jan. and have had no problems. I also changed the factory cooler to a much larger one. I got the largest I could fit in front behind the grill. It is a Hayden brand about 14" X 12" X 2" thick. I am sorry I don't have the part number. The trans now runs about 150 deg or 50 deg. cooler. The dealer Trans tech told me that the factory cooler was way to small.

I hope this helps.
