Good evening everyone,

I have an 04 Crew GMC Sierra with Quadrasteer, in general I love it. I put new tires on the truck about 20,000 miles ago, Michelin LTX M&S, on my last two vehicles I had them on I got around 80K out of them. The tires on my truck seem very worn now, worse in the back. Anyone have any experience or advice? Thanks! Dave

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the club...there aren't many people left on here these days but I'll try to help. I got about 50k out of my Bridgestone Revos which I figured was about right, but I did notice they were wearing on the outside edges more than I would think. I had it aligned about once a year but didn't rotate them enough. Is that what you are seeing also? Have you been getting alignments and rotating? I think the 4 wheel steer is a little harder on the rear tires so the next set I am putting on will be rotated more often.

I haven't rotated and I haven't had it aligned, but it doesn't feel like it needs it. They are wearing evenly in the back, fronts are better..

I guess if they are wearing evenly it might not need an alignment, but I have been told its good to have that checked every year or so. They might last longer if you rotate them too, especially with the 4 wheel steer..

Yeah, I do think rotating more often would be a good idea, but I still think they are wearing much faster than they should..

Thanks! Dave

The Michelin LTX MS seems to be a soft and flexible tire, compared to the factory issued Bridgestones.

An acquaintance of mine with the same Quadrasteer vehicle changed his tires out to the Michelin LTX, and noticed an immediate downgrade in towing stability, where the LTX offered less control than the Bridgestone V265 Ribs that he replaced.

This was surprising, since the LTX is so popular of a replacement tire. I don't know if that it because of higher reputation or more common availability, or a combination of both. (the LTX is sold at Costco, Sam's Club, KMart, as well as tire stores)

Anyway, he had to increase the air pressure by 15 lbs in the front, from 50 lbs door rated to 65 lbs minimum for steering control (the load range E version of the tire is rated to 80 lbs.)

He later went back to the Bridgestones.

I have 45,000 miles on my factory issued Bridgestone Duravis M773's, an on/off road tire, with no uneven wear on any of the four corners. I have not rotated these OEM tires in the 4 years since I've owned the vehicle.

They appear to have another 40,000 miles left in them, the tread is so substantial.

It could be my old-lady style driving, because I've milked as many as 100,000 miles out of a set of Goodyears in a passenger car, but I'm still of the opinion that Quadrasteer actually put's LESS steering stress on the tires, since the rear tires are not locked straight in a fight with the steering direction of the vehicle, like in a normal truck.

Thanks! I have the Load range E tires. I've loved them for the last couple vehicles. Quite and good traction. I had the truck aligned, and the rears were not out of alignment at all..

My tires were wearing on the outer edges too, I stopped rotating them and found out my passenger side front tire was thelocation where all the wear was happening. I had an alignment done and they said it was within specs but it still wears in that same spot. time to pick another shop for the alignment since they were either confused or did't know how to do the alignment with QS.
After I stopped rotating them the other tires look great and have lots of miles left on them.
