Welcome to the site...I would guess you are the only lifted SD around...If you can take some pictures with the smaller settings.

I saw your pictures. Very, very nice. I've got a 6" lift on my 1500HD. I also have no problems with my lift.

When I was looking for one to buy I might have seen yours online. Did you have it advertised for a while? The one I saw was from Fla. and it looked sharp!
I found one, a 2005 1500HD Quadrasteer SLT. Man is it nice! Only thing is, my wife thinks it rides too stiff legged. Reading on this forum, I think I should not mess with the original config. The ride control is predicated on the equipment being as Chevy put it together it seems. Know anyone who wants a QS? |

Hi to all,
I'm a new quadrasteer owner. I just bought a 2003 Silverado K1500 extended cab, black, with 65,000 miles. I will be unsing the truck to tow an Oliver Travel trailer, 17 foot, weight about 3,900 pounds fully loaded. I have ordered new 265/75/16 Revo's tires (it still has the original Firestone Wilderness A/T tires) which will be in tomorrow, from Tire Rack. The truck is stock and I have no prior service information. I bought it in Houston from Texas Auto. Found it listed on Ebay. I look forward to getting one of those Wester tunes and getting the truck serviced with new fluids and new shocks. Maybe someone can tell me where to get this done? Thanks 2003 Silverado K1500 extended cab Quadrasteer. |

If you are towing 4,000 lbs, I'd stick with the stock tire size: 245/75R16. I'd make sure they were "LT" construction, not "P" construction, and that they were 10 ply rated Load Range "E".
With that 1500, your rear end gear is most likely 3.73, and 265's will make that gear taller still, reducing your low end grunt off idle to get the trailer moving from a stand still. Also, a taller tire may mean running up even the lightest hills in a fuel thirsty 3rd instead of 4th, and a very thirsty 2nd instead of third on the steeper hills. Finally, if the stock wheels are only 6" wide, and not at least 6.75" wide that is the minimum width for a 265 tire, you may find that the truck doesn't handle as crisply in any sudden collision avoidance manuver you may have to make from time to time. Guys who don't tow may not notice any of these issues with the big tires like to run, but guys who do tow, and tow often, may start out with 265's to "fill the wheel wells" visually, but by their next set of tires, they go back to the stock set up. The wheel wells have lots of space to account for when the suspension is compressed severely under maximum loads. ___________________ |

Quadrafacts, I went with the 265/75R/16's because it was the "as built" size tire on this truck, not an oversize tire. I have the complete "as built" print out on the vehicle from GM, which I got from my Chevy dealer. The original tires are still on the truck, Wrangler Wilderness AT 265/75R/16's with less than 2/32 tread on one of them.
Maybe I did the wrong thing by sticking with the size tire that came with the truck from the factory? The truck is rated to tow 7,600 pounds, so towing 4,000 a pound trailer with a small (width and height) frontal area should not strain the engine or the transmission, I would think. I know people who are towing these trailers with 6 cylinder Jeep Liberties and Wranglers. BTW, I ordered Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's. 2003 Silverado K1500 extended cab Quadrasteer. |

Sorry bout that felpa41... I thought you had a 1500HD, which would have come with LT245s.
I see now that you have a 1500 NON-HD, which comes with P265s. Note that "P" vs. "LT". Which can typically be a 6 ply rated load range C equivalent tire. Therefore, not only are you maintaining the exact same rim width ratio and final drive ratio, you are actually upgrading your tires, as I understand that the Revos are LT tires, that come in Load Ranges D and E. I think you did the right thing. I was wrong in assuming you had a 1500HD instead of a 1500. I thought that most Silverado version Quadrasteers were 1500HDs. I didn't remember that there were also 1500 versions. Thanks for the update. ___________________ |
