Hey Snakeyes hows it going? Are you talking about the dust shields for the brakes? Because I had heard something about this before. That they don't protect the rotors and dirt gets in there and messes up the brakes.I have a 1500hd quadsteer and all 4 brakes seem to have uneven wear on the rotors.(2005 50,000miles)Pads look good still, but the braking is marginal, especially on the hiway. It feels like my front rotors are warped, cause I get a little shaking in the wheel at higher speeds.I was just going to turn the rotors and sand the pads clean, and see if this corrects the problem. Also I can't help on the rear axles, but I did replace my leaking rear pinion seal and replaced the quadsteer differential fluid. So if you need info on this, let me know. I got a great price on the fluid and seal,by searching the web.$51.23 for the seal, $20.40qt. for the fluid, and $2.57 for the new nut, plus shipping. This was all pretty easy to do too. Dave

yup just change all my brake dust shields on my 02 avalanche replaced all the brakes ,rotors pads, hardware kits ,shocks. what a pain to pull the front hubs had to bring my big slide hammer from the shop to get them off real rusty up there and apain for the rear had to pull the axles , while at it I changed the front diff. fluid and the rear diff. fluid ,done now for the sd brake shields wasn`t sure how different this will be , fiqure it should be like changing the front diff.

Snakeyes
There is enough room to wipe out the diff, however I would recommend removing the spare tire to allow for head room. |
