I bought an '02 Sierra Denali QS AWD last October, but it has taken me a while to speak up.

Originally, when I decided to buy a newer truck, my intention was to just replace my old '96 Cheyenne 4X4 chore truck. The only option it had was A/C. I had decided that an extended cab would be nice so I could fit my Lady and the pups (Golden Retriever x Border Collie brother and sister) without crowding. Power windows and door locks would have been kinda nice, too.

Then one day I saw a woman in a pickup pull into a parking spot that would have taken me two or three manoevres. While I was saying to myself "How'd she do that??", I noticed it was a Chev (yay!) and that the rear wheels steered as she turned. I knew on the spot I HAD to have one of those!

I spent about three months reading everything I could find about Quadrasteer, and when I thought I was ready, I made up my mind that I would allow a year to find the right truck since they are relatively scarce. I started searching every listing I could find in Canada and the US and sent emails to every Chev and GMC truck dealer in Alberta. Less than three weeks into my search, a new truck salesman phoned to tell me about his friend who was considering selling his Quadrasteer.

It turned out his friend works about four blocks from where I do, so we got together in short order. The research I had done had made me aware of the Denali, but I was still blown away by the features. He was the second owner; it had just turned 100,000km and looked like new. Watching him demonstrate the features, I could tell that he was the kind of guy who took very good care of his vehicles. He was obviously reluctant to sell the truck, but it was impractical since he didn't really need a truck and he had another car. I didn't even haggle the price.

That was nine months ago, and I still LOVE my truck! I've put it to work around the acreage and it actually gets dirty in the course of a normal day, but I'm going to keep taking as good care of it as the previous owners. I'm hooked on Quadrasteer and unless GM decides to bring it back in new trucks, this one will have to last a long time!

It sure makes hauling the necessities around a pleasure. I often find myself taking the "scenic route" just to enjoy the ride a little longer. The pups like riding in it, too and nobody has to sit on anybody's lap to get the four of us in. It's also great that leather seats are much easier to keep clean than cloth.

I have three other vehicles, a '96 Corvette, a '99 Cadillac Deville and an '05 Harley Sportster 1200, and I find that I still drive the truck most of all.

Kinda long-winded, but that's my story and I just wanted to share. Thanks.

PS my avatar is our male "pup", Luke. He and his sister Heidi are a year and a half old now, but they're still "the pups" to us.

Top Dog, you should send a copy of that post to GM Truck Division, as well as to Delphi's unit in Saginaw, MI (whatever is left of Delphi, that is). I'm sure that someone there would appreciate hearing how much you prefer driving what they developed (Quadrasteer) over your Harley and Cadillac.

LOL!

They probably wouldn't believe me!

Truthfully, the practicality of a pickup often overrides other factors in choosing which vehicle to drive to the city on any given trip.

FWIW, I just sold the bike tonight; the 'vette and DeVille are up for sale, and will go to the highest offer by Sept. 15. If anyone in the Calgary area (or even southern Alberta) is interested, I can email all the details. The corvette has a 383 Lingenfelter stroker engine.

I need a wheelchair accessible van for chauffeuring my Mom more than the 'vette or the bike, and it's getting too hard to get her into and out of the DeVille, not to mention loading and unloading her wheelchair. The truck stays, though, no matter what.
