On Friday, March 20, I placed an order for a Chevy 1500HD quadrasteer. The sales rep entered the order today (Monday, Mar 21) and was told that GM "has just cut off the 2005 year model orders on quadrasteer". He called me and told me we could wait until the 2006 model year to place an order if I really wanted quadrasteer.

Since he had no idea, I then commenced to educate him on the fact that GM wasn't offering quadrasteer on the next model year. Don't you hate dealing with a sales rep that knows less about the truck you are trying to buy than you do? and this guy has been selling cars/trucks for years.

Looks like I'm out-of-luck on trying to get my quad. I know there are a few out there on lots around the country, but I really want the 4-door with a front bench seat. We need a 6-seater to fit the whole family.

Don't give up !!!!! It just means you'll have to hunt a little harder !!!! And it'll make it that much more rewarding when you do find it.... (well, sounds good anyway !!)

I know what you mean about the sales people. Sad when the consumer has to educate them on THEIR products.....

Good luck.

Bummer about your order. I ordered mine about 5 weeks ago and your posting kind of scared me. They better not renege. I wonder who will get the last gm-produced quadrasteer to roll off the assembly line.

MSWEN, I'de sure try another dealer or two to make sure that info is correct. Try both Chevy and GMC. If still the same story, get them to do a nationwide search of both dealer and manufacture inventory.

There was a GMC dealer in Atlanta, GA (I think) that kind of specialized in QS and usually had several on his lot. (Hamptonplow got his there.) May be a last ditch resource. Whatever is still around may not last long, so move quickly.

GOOD LUCK!

I too went this Fri the 25th, but stated I wanted a 2500hd with ALL the goodies I have with my SD. the salesman says it looks like the only thing I can order now is a 1500 with a 5.3 THAT is NOT enough muscle for me! my Sierra Denali tows my 5th wheel just fine! I'd just like to get away from the AWD. he is still working on what is/isnot avail at this point in time.

GM (and others to some extent) have so much inventory at this point that I guess they pushed the cut-off date for '05 orders up from what they had told dealers just a month ago.

For those looking for QS equipped trucks it is a real bummer because there are so few in stock anywhere. You should still be able to find a fairly good selection of 2500HDs somewhere in the supply chain, you may just have to go a ways to get it or your dealer can trade for it.

Good Luck!!
