I'm lucky and have the DIC on my truck, but I know at least a couple of you don't and showed interest in possibly adding it.

I found this link for adding DIC to vehicles with out it. It really isn't that complicated if you're comfortable with this sort of thing.

If any of you local Quadders want to do it, I'd be more than happy to help you out. I probably have whatever tools we'd need, plus we could take pictures and do our own write-up on- just for Quadrasteers !!!!!

Anyway, thought I'd pass that on Wink .

Happy Quaddin' !!

That was a GREAT link with much useful information. With so many crappy forums around, it is nice to find the good ones.

One quick question.... can one at least disable the auto door lock function without DIC? I pretty much won't drive off the dealer lot with that Big Brother in my face.

Rip, you're not getting DIC on your 05 ?? It's an awesome option with a bunch of cool features.

You can disable the auto-lock feature, or change it's settings, w/o DIC. Gimme a bit and I'll find and post it Wink .

I'm getting a pretty stripped LS truck (standard mirrors, radio/cd, etc) and really have no use for 90% of the DIC features, but HATE the auto door lock mode that many new vehicles come with.

As long as the tap-head-rub-belly programing info is in the owners manual I'll be fine. I had read somewhere that it was one of the things controlled by the DIC, and wanted to make sure one could still diable it without DIC though. Curb-tilt mirrors may have been nice though.

Here goes !!!

There are three modes of auto-locking:

Mode 1- doors lock when shifted into gear (default for auto-trans)

Mode 2- doors lock above 8mph (default for manual-trans)

Mode 3- no auto-locking

To enter the program mode:

1- Begin with ignition off. Pull turn signal/multifunction stalk lever towards you and hold.

2- Turn key to RUN then back to LOCK twice. Then, with key in LOCK, release turn signal. The doors should then lock then unlock, the horn should chirp twice and a 30 second timer begins.

3- Press the door lock switch once. You will hear one, two or three chimes, indicating the current mode. Continue pressing the door lock until the number of chimes matches the mode you want.

If you take longer than 30 seconds, the locks will lock and unlock and the horn will chirp twice, indicating you have left the program mode. If this happens during programming, start over and work faster !!!

You can also exit at anytime by turning the key to RUN.

The unlock procedure is even longer, but I'm guessing once you do this and select no auto-lock, you really won't need the auto-unlock instructions !!!

But, if anyone does, just ask Wink. We aim to please Eeker Big Grin !!!!

Let me know if it works !!

It should be in the owner's manual, that's where what I typed came from Wink .
