I've made a deal on an 03 15ooHD Quadrasteer. It's an SLT 2wd, white w/ tan leather and mint condition. Can't pick it for about 2 weeks, the wait is gonna kill me!
My qustion here is mainly about lowering it, I was looking for a 1500HD or 2500HD when I stumbled across this Quadrasteer and fell in love. (The more I read about it, the more excited I get) Anyway, I had intended to install a DJM 3/5 kit and run 295/45/20's on it. Anyone know if I will run into problems with this setup? I could set the drop at 3/4 utilizing different spring mounting positions, and intend to install some helper airbags. Also this truck has the selectable suspension (Ithink that is just the shock package) but will I be able to retain that feature? And probably better suited for another forum, but what is the most popular exhaust for the 6.0? I want a low rumble w/ a decent amount of volume, but not obnoxious. I'd sit down and read THIS enitre post. Then I'd contact DJM and throw as many questions at them that you might be able to come up with regarding what you read here. You sure do not want to have to deal with any of the inherant issuse associated with drops like these guys have had.
Also, check your PM. Hope this brain food helps. |

That thread sure steers me away from McGaughy's, too bad they were the only one familiar with my configuration. The techs at DJM and Bell tech didn't even know quadrasteer was offered in the 1500HD, they asked if I was sure it had 8 lugs. hahaha I am leaning toward the DJM control arms up front though, I'd like to be able to put the stock wheels on if need be and don't have that option if I go Drop Spindle.
I have a 2wd so don't need to worry about the vibrations from the front drive axles that they were speaking of. And, rear vibration should be able to be taken care of by way of pinion angle and/or carrier bearing height. McGaughy's did say that 4" was max drop and even then I would have to remove the spare tire. 03 1500HD GMC SLT Quadrasteer 2WD, Wetster 91/93 Hot Tune, Corsa Sport, Outlaw Intake, 6/8 DJM Drop |
