anyone riding around with 285 on a stock QS?
i've got a 05 chevy 1500HD. i took it to a tire store and they said they they would have to 'try it out and see' because they dont have enough information on the quadrasteers. i'm planning a lift soon (wife dont know that yet) but that's a few months down the road.
also, anyone know if increasing the tire size will effect the QS?
thanks for all the help, i'm just a newbee here (heck, i havent even owned the truck for 48 hours yet) so any and all help wil be greatly appreciated.
(photos to come as soon as my head stops spinning)

Kewl buds Congrats, BB cheers They are friggin' sweet, ain't they drool I'm always happy to see mine sitting in the driveway crazy eyes !!!!!!

And hey !!!! I just got rid of this jeep that's been sitting in my driveway for like, 6 months Eeker Mad Now I actually CAN see it sitting there... but that's another story Roll Eyes !!!!! Anyway...

The 285s will fit- I'm mad I didn't go with them bang head . In fact, I'm now fairly confident that 305s will fit Eeker !!!

We have more issues up front than in back. When I had mine on the rack when I got my tires, talked to the guys about how QS works, they were wow'ed, so it was easy to convince them !!! I started it, put it in gear and let it idle. Cut the wheels and you can see how much room we have. A LOT !! 285s will fit with ease in back, and I'll let you know about the 305s when my current sneakers wear out !!!

In front, clearance is a little tighter. You will have to put a few turns to the t-bars, but you'd probably want to do that anyway. It looked silly with the bigger tires and factory *rake* !!!! You may also need to trim the bottom corner of the valance, but that's easy and when done right, completely unnoticeable except to those that know what they're looking at...

Now, when I went from the factory 245s to my Revo 265s.... my truck went batty crazy eyes !!! You'll need to adjust the ecm to correct the tire diameter. My shifting went to crap, the t/c would lock and unlock, mileage took a dump, speedo.... it was NOT a happy truck.

The dealer should be able to do this for you for pretty cheap or free, any of the handheld tuners will adjust it. My suggestion... you should know by now Razzer !!!!!!

Get a Westers custom tune !!! It'll fix that, and sooooooo much more thumbs up 2

Oh, and they lift like normal. Go look in the suspension area Wink

I cranked my torsion bars to level my truck and added the 285's. The back clears by a long ways. The front valance needed trimmed and they still rub the back of the front at full turn in reverse only. I added 1.5" blocks in back and have new torsion keys to swap so I can crank the front a little more, when I get around to it.

My wife doesn't like the feel or traction of the stock tires. beats me I guess this means I get to go for the 285 Revos! headbang

What did everyone do with there old tires? I have 1,100 miles on these tires and don't know what to do with them. Is there a market for stock tires? Do tire places trade in tires?

Anyone want stock tires????? How much are they worth?

I do. PM me.

What are "REVO's" ?

I keep reading about "Revos" and don't know what they are. Are they tires? What characteristics do Revo's have that make everyone so excited about having them?

ladiver, I got lucky and sold my 6000mile old tires to a friend for $75 each. Yes, there is a market for used tires- you might try eBay. Used tire places will only give you a fraction of what they're worth.

Facts, Revos are Bridgestone's new all-terrain tires. If you go to TireRack and read the feedback on them and check out the comparison.... there is no comparison !!!! All Revos owners are crazy about their Revos !!! They are GREAT tires !! WAY better ride, traction- wet or dry- they look cool....

They ain't the cheapest tires around, but have a good tread life warranty and I feel are worth every penny. They'll be my next set...

Looks like Bridgestone is running another promo starting June 6th. Check out Costco, their price is excellent, and the price includes mounting balancing tire disposal and road hazard...then subtract the rebate ($60) and the deal is hard to beat!! Revo's are not listed online, you must call the store and have them order...

OK, after lots of looking and talking to people, not too many HUGE problems with the 285's on stock rims. But As I was looking at the Bridgstone site, I see I can get a similar one in a LT235/85R16. Any idea if this would be a better tire to go with? Sure it 0.9" smaller, but what about rubbing and rim size issues?

I sold my stock rims and tires on ebay. Lots better than trading them in.

Tall, skinny tires ?? Try talking to the tire shop and see if they'll mount you a pair up ?? That won't tell you everything, that would require a ride over bumps and all, but you should be able to see how close the tire and inner fender will get at different angles.... might help.

Hey, if any of you are swapping tires and your old stock ones are okay, let me know. The guy that bought mine is always in the market for those tires !!!

Holy Crap I'm glad I finally found you guys. I've been looking for this forum for months....

I've got 13,000 on a 2004 QS Crew 4wd. I love it. When I bought it I had the dealer swap my MT/R's onto it instead of the P.O.S. factory tires. The 245/75 16's look really silly, and I'm looking to bump up. Glad to hear 285's will fit, and I was lusting after some 305's as well, but was not really thrilled about lifting it.

Anyway, I have this crazy idea that since the bolt patterns are the same, I might try and track down some HUMVEE (H1, NOT H2) wheels before getting new tires. Anyone have any idea if this will cause problems? I've seen plenty of 3/4 tons with H2 wheels, but never H1's.

Also, if someone can let me know the best way to get rid of that silly "california rake" i'd appreciate it.
