I'm a long time fan of Quadrasteer and since it doesn't look like GM or anyone else will be bringing it back, I'm considering buying a used truck that has it. Since I don't want a 3/4 ton truck, I thought I would get a 2004, which was the last year for 1/2 ton pickups. There are still some available, although I'll need to travel a ways if I want to be picky about color.

What kind of service experience have you all had with the 2004's? There are more Denalis around since they all had QS that year, so I'll probably get one of those. I would appreciate any comments or recommendations you might have about a purchase.

The only problem I've had with mine is it kept kicking out of 4 wheel steering. The dealer did a programming update that fixed it.

You may want to look at the 2005 1500HD Crew Cab. I have a 1993 Silverado 1500 and my 2005 rides just a little harder but less ruff then the 2500HD. If you are towing the 1500HD is a lot better truck. Larger brakes, some came with ride control shocks, 8 lug rims, will handle more weight, and trailer package. Upgrade the trans cooler in front of the AC condenser, it's too small for a trailer. I have had no problems with mine with 65,000 miles on it now. I thank most of the problems were resolved by 2005. The dealers have damaged more quadsteer's by putting in the wrong rear end oil then we can count. This was the last year for quadsteer.
Good luck.
