I just bought a 2003 Sierra Denali Quadrasteer. Goes nice. I like it. But I can't figure out for sure what one of the switches does. NOTHING in the owners manual about it. It's on the same panel as the 4 wheel steer switch. It looks like a tire over a wavy symbol. I can't believe there's nothing in the owner's manual, but I'll be damned if I can find it. I'm guessing it's an off road switch, but what does it do? Any help would be appreciated. The dealer didn't have a clue. I knew more about this truck than he did. (And that ain't sayin' much!)

It should be the “Firm Ride/Normal (Soft) Ride” selection switch. It increases the stiffness of the shock absorbers by controlling suspension damper solenoids. You would need Firm Ride when the truck is loaded or towing, etc.

Welcome to the Club... cheers

I was under the impression it was a traction controll button.

i thought it was a traction control button also .. hmm but i guess the firm/ soft ride theory makes more sense Big Grin .. so the question is .. do we keep it always on ? or should it only be on when needed?

You should switch to the firm ride when you have load on the truck. Firm ride would give you a bumpy ride when the truck is empty. I would suggest trying the options in different load and road conditions to find your optimum ride.

I use the firm ride option when doing heavy cornering also. It completely does away with the "body roll" you normally expirience at increased speeds...
