I am a tech here in San Diego and have ran into a dalema. I recently put a ring and pinion into a customers 04 gmc rear steer because of ring noise and weird pattern. new ring gear was still noisey so i put a new housing in from factory. still had noise and same weird pattern. there is a weird diagonal pattern in the center of the tooth on the ring on both the coast and drive side. I have replace ring and pinions in a few other rear steers and have not had this happen. any advice?

Did you shim the pinion correctly?
