We're looking at going from the stock 3.73 ratio, to 4.56's since our truck is primarily used in the mountains pulling a horse trailer and hauling a camper. It's not a highway truck. The case break on the D60 is 4.10's and below, and 4.56's and above so I'll need a new LS carrier regardless if I go with 4.56 gears (31" tires by the way). The gear shop said that they have a beefier LS that'll run the same price as the stock LS, but it's more aggressive as far as lock up goes.
Could this cause driveability issues with the QS while hauling a trailer? I don't want this thing squirming all over the road. Thanks for any help! 2003 1500HD 4x4 QS Go bulldogs! |

I would like to know what brand of LS you are speaking about. The best I can tell is that only the original LS (I beleive it is a Spicer true trac) will fit.

I'm not sure but I remember the guy at the gear shop saying something about "trac lock" or something. He said it'd fit since it's essentially a Dana60. I'll have to ask him for the specific name.

You may get a “vehicle speed” error code. The system is receives a vehicle speed signal from the ABS controller and if that signal is not within a certain range the “Quadrasteer” system will set a vehicle speed fault. The system is set up for 3.73 and 4.10.
The other thing to remember is that if you have a 4x4 vehicle you must change the front gear ratio if you change the rear. |
