Delphi did come up with a last new flash for the QS that would have remedied several inconvenience faults and was ready to send it off to GM just as the General dumped QS for 2006. Delphi has since abandoned all further development on the QS since March 2005.

Some of the remedied inconvenience faults :

1. Startup Faults- defaults to 2WS on startup as the computer crashes/freezes-up.
2. Servo Error Fault- steering wheel position (indicates desired position) and road wheel position (indicates actual position) are out of synch as actual position may lag behind desired position.

Example: Setting – shopping center parking lot. Steering wheel is turned 180-dg LEFT, (road wheels start to turn LEFT to match input), then rapid turn of wheel 180-dg to RIGHT, (road wheels start to turn RIGHT to match input, but equipment speed lags behind inputs), then another rapid turn of wheel 180-dg to the LEFT, (road wheels again start to turn LEFT to match input, but continued lagging speed never matches input). Computer crashes and reverts to 2WS safe mode.

Additionally, friction (may be caused by a heavy GVCW, trailer weight, or a combination of the two) reduces the performance of the system.


I wish there was a way we could work with Delphi to send out that last fix, especially since it was finalized already. Maybe if we try a e-mail/letter writing campaign to get them to bring out the reflash and keep supporting their product, as they must with parts for the federally mandated period of time
