Has anyone else had problem with worn components in the steering system. I have 47000 miles on my 2003 1500HD and had to replace the pitman and idler arm. I also had to lube the intermediate steering shaft to get rid of the "clunking" noise.

the lube of the intermediate steering shaft is a common problem on the GMT800 platform, not specific to Quadrasteer. Don't know about the pitman and idler arm, but they might have been missed when doing the regular chassis lube leading to premature failure.

I have had my Pitman and Idler arms replaced. Never thought they would be worn much less in need of replacement. I bot the truck used with 44k miles. You never know how the other guy used it but i was till surprised to see they were warn and out of specs. Disappointed.

I bought mine with 37000 on it, so I also have no idea how it had been serviced. TxDoc, How long did the lube fix the problem? I was told by the service man that he had not seen any of the trucks come back that had the lube of the int. steering shaft done. Were the replacement shafts identical to the stock shaft that the truck came with?

Everyone with one of our trucks, 6-bolt or 8-bolt should seriously consider the Cognito Pitman and Idler Arm Support Kit.

This kit provides another point of support against deflection on the GMT-800 trucks.

6-lug applications.

8-lug applications

Also check out this review at chevy@off-road.com

I'm ordering mine right now while the holiday sales are in effect.

Agreed Prophet, that's one more improvement off the list for the front end. Next, probably moving up to the Borgeson intermediate shaft, in the future, followed by doing something to this front axle assembly.
