This seems to be one of those topics that always comes up, so maybe this will help reduce repeat posts.

If you're looking to level the truck or want a small lift in front, this works for 2500 series trucks and 4x4's. (I *think* all the 4x4s use t-bars. someone tell me if I'm wrong !!) 1500 series trucks use coil springs and need a different method to lift or level.

2wd trucks can lift up to 2.5" with this method.
4wd trucks need to keep this at 2 or so inches. More lift puts undue stress on the front CV joints and will cause premature wear.
Get an alignment after doing this.

Locate the torsion bar. Find one of the lower control arms up front. There will be a large bar running towards the back of the truck to a crossmember. That's the t-bar.

Look inside the crossmember. If you follow the bar thru the crossmember, you'll see a cam-like device attached to the end of the bar, that's the "key". The adjustment bolt (17 or 18mm, I forget) is positioned vertically, it's end pushes on the key. You can see both rusty-colored pieces in the pic.

Prior to making any adjustments, take careful measurements. Make sure all your tires are equally inflated and you're sitting on level ground, no load, etc. I measured from the fender lip to the ground. (my truck was over a 1/2" unlevel from the factory Eeker !!)

Lift the front of the truck to take the weight off the front wheels. If your truck sat perfectly level, turn each bolt an equal amount of turns. If one side was lower, give it an extra turn or two.

Lower the truck and roll it back and forth a few feet to help re-settle the suspension. Take another measurement. Repeat until your level side to side and achieved the lift you wanted.

I lifted almost 2" and noticed no change in ride quality, handling or anything else. Just a bigger step in and out Big Grin !!

Here's Quadzilla with the Revos and t-bars cranked-

Hope that helps. Ask if you have any questions.

I raised my 03 Sierra Denali 1". Front end got a little stiffer. Any higher would be to stiff. My truck was also uneven. High side up 1" low side maybe 1.5". The rear end is a 1/2" uneven. The driver side with the gas tank is higher And that is the heavy side. I may have to drop one side of the front, to even up the rear.

I have a 04 QS 1500HD with ride control. I know there are always tire size questions so I apologize in advance for yet another one. I read posts about torsion bars and shcoks. I too would like to lift the fornt endfor both appearance and to put on bigger tires. Does anybody have experience with the ride control?

Guys;

Don't forget, you will need to do four wheel alignment, after adjusting torsion bars.

I have an 03 1500HD Silverado 4x4 and was thinking about lifing my front end also. I am worried about wearing out suspension parts more quickly and the stiffer ride with the torsion bar adjustmet. Has anyone heard of Ready Lift front leveling kits? And would this be a safer way to level the truck or is this the same, just using different keys?

okay, i haven't posted in a long while (joined this group two months after purchasing my 2005 QS). Reason for being in here because I am finally doing more upgrades. I installed the Readylift keys in anticipation of getting new wheels and tires. I will post new pics once all of the work is done as tomorrow i get the new wheels and tires. going with 18" wheels and 285/75 Revos. We'll see how it goes!!

To answer the previous question, the other thing the kit does is add extensions to the shocks so that they aren't over extended and reduces some of the rough ride. All theory until it's done. Again, I'll let everyone know how it goes.
