OK I gotta ask....

What does that little trailer icon under the 4 wheel steering change with regard to the steering?

I've not noticed anything, nor been able to read anything in the book about it.

What does it do?

-Mike

Mike, I've got a chart somewhere showing what happens in each mode- lemme find it Wink

Basically, it changes the crossover point of the out-of-phase/in-phase to a lower speed. It takes max advantage of 4ws when you're draggin' a trailer hail

You don't notice a difference ?!!? Wow !! I like to go out and scare myself sometimes playing with it on the fly Big Grin !!!!!! Try it at some long, large-radius corner at a moderate pace, maybe a little above posted speed in each phase. You should note a marked difference.

BUT- DO NOT GO NUTS !!!!! "creep-up" on what speed is safe for any given corner. Don't go in a corner at 60mph only to find out 50 might be a bit too much !!!

Ah ha!

Now that's some good information, something I can sink my teeth into.

Thanks Mr.QS

I haven't tried anything dangerous with the truck yet - but I love every minute of it!

The 4 wheel tow mode from what I've noticed is that the rear steering angles are less so you don't turn into your trailer. I haven't tried to use regular 4WS while towing.

Please correct if not the facts:

4WS Tow mode

INCREASES in-phase rear steer angle to max of 12 degrees. This helps maintain paralell movement of the tow vehicle during higher speed lane changes, reducing the chance for a steering induced bow wave on the towed trailer.

DECREASES out-of-phase rear steer angle. This helps reduce over articulation of the towed trailer when backing.

4WS Regular "4" Mode:

In-Phase steering angle not as pronounced... perhaps up to 7-8 degrees in most situations (sketchy data here... needs verification or correction.)

Out-of-phase steering angle MORE pronounced... for maximum manuverability and minimum turning radius when snaking through parking lots, etc.

That's correct, Facts.

4WT also lowers the crossover point of out- and in-phase.

I still can't find this chart pissed It shows the exact speed and angle and crossover point....

I'll find it. I will not stop until I do patriot !!!!

I found this on a review of a quadrasteer truck.

Below 45 mph, the rear wheels can steer up to 12¡ (left or right). At these speeds, the rear wheels turn in the direction opposite the fronts. Above 40 mph, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the fronts to significantly limit the pivoting a trailer feels at the hitch. Forty-five mph is a neutral zone, where the rear wheels maintain a fairly straight-ahead position even when the front wheels are turned. When in the 4WS Tow Mode (recommended for towing), the speed of the neutral zone is reduced by the microprocessor to 25 mph. Visually, rear-wheel turn appears modest, but the amount they do turn yields dramatic performance dividends. The Sierra Denali, with its Vortec 6000 V-8 and strong all-wheel-drive system, is capable of towing up to 10,000 lb.

Can I ask where you found that ??

I coulda sworn crossover was around 35~40. I agree with the tow mode part, but I think that mph is a little high on the other Confused

I ain't done looking for that chart bang head

I'll find it...

The question above made me wonder about the tow mode, so I googled 'quadrasteer tow', and came up with a couple of reviews on the trucks. It was on a review of a Denali.
