Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know that I successfully installed my custome Wester's Tune today. The worst part of it was waiting the 30 mins for the passkey relearn procedure.

I cannot believe how much more spunk my truck has now. The Torque manglement Wink that GM implements is dogging our trucks down and not letting them live up to their potential.

I ordered an 89/93 tune with max Fuel Economy, so I'm hoping to have some impressive MPG numbers here in a few weeks or a month. I'll be sure to post my numbers. I'm a freak ( ask MrQuadrasteer) and have kept mileage numbers for almost every gallon of fuel that has gone thru my ride, so I have hard numbers to compare with those of the new tune.

I also have flowmatched injectors from Wester's ( a steal at 19.95 per injector)

Here's a pic of my 8 pack of injectors

Thanks again Eric for you help!

Long Live Quadrasteer!

Hey MrQuad,

I love the tune. Like you said it makes the truck totally fun to drive and a different animal. I'm having a hard time keeping my foot out of it.

I've only put one full tank through it so far and my MPG is 12.4. That's mainly in town driving to and from work. I think I need some good solid Highway miles to get those numbers up a bit.

The injectors went in last weekend and wasn't as bad a job as I thought it would be. When you do it, just don't drop the injector retaining clip when removing them from the rear injectors Wink I only lost one to the neverland monster that lives at the back of the engine ontop of the tranny.. LOL. Stopped by the dealer yesterday and they can't get the single clip yet but they had a kit of 8 for 10$(GM Part # 12570620). being that the bar secures the injector very well, I decided to wait untill GM offers a single clip for sale.(GM Part # Z5168573)

Oh and also don't accidentally close the patient without counting the rags that you used to catch the coolant fluid. Myself, Bro in Law, and a retired ASE Mechanic forgot to do so and I broke my A/C Belt. A quick trip to the autoparts store resolved this and I found out how easy it is to change the serpentine belt in the process.

Incase anyone is wondering why cooling fluid was involved in the injector process, I also changed out the Tstat and did the Throttle body coolant bypass. No, GM isnt running coolant thru the injectors Wink

Hey Eric,

Yeah, it's so hard to not tear off the line now. Before the tune, I wouldn't even bother cause the torque manglement would kick in and bog her down. Now she's takes off like a scalded ape!

The rag is in rag heaven.. Mr AC belt decapitated the rag Frowner We had a nice service for the rag at 1pm Smiler

I really don't notice a difference with the injectors but if my stock ones were flowing(or not flowing at all) anything like the ones in the Injector flow vid then I'm glad I did them.

The last column is the MPG, so it is up a bit. That's prety much in town driving. I really want to see what she'll get with straight Highway miles. I'm going to the FL Keys at the end of May, so we'll see then what her hwy mpg is.

Sean,
Did you increase the grade of gas when you installed the Webster's tune? It looks like you did but with the price of gas now it is tough to tell. It appears the cost per mile has gone up.

Sean

$2.30 a gallon?! Are you cheap? I'd really love to get 87 at $2.30 a gallon. Here in So Cal were paying $2.67 for 87. I paid $2.78 a gallon for 91 the other day.

We got the beaches and mountians, so I guess we get reamed on gas.

Hey SS Crew,

I filled up yesterday with 89 at $2.29 a gallon
That's the most I've ever paid per gallon for gas. I remember way back when I lived in the FL Keys and regular 87 was .99 a gallon.

We have Mountains and Beaches here in NC too Big Grin

Hey Mr Q,

Stiill loving my truck and tune. Within a year I'll need new rubber and will need a reburn with the new tire diameters.

I think I need to have the tune adjusted for the 186 deg TSTAT as Im not sure we included that with the initial burn.

Can we also program it for E-fans even tho I don't have them yet? I'm just trying to think down the road and avoid having to send the cpus back and forth.

Thanks
