it looks like the last post here was in 2006, so I hope someone is still out there. I am interested in a tune and need some help to know which one to get. I have a 2005 1500HD 6.0 liter Crewcab 4x4 that is stock. I was told I could change the air intake to an "air ram' by cutting a hole in the bottom of the filter housing and hooking up a induct to the front of the grill, then attaching a Truflow to the throttle body. In an effort to achieve the best fuel performance and power, what should I do? Also, I live in Texas so the truck has to pass EPA emission restrictions, but I spend a lot of time in Colorado at altitudes of over 7500'. Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.

For the trouble, there's no significant measureable gains with a ram-air set-up, such as you describe, for our trucks. It's not worth the work.
For starters, why not look into a Westers tune. I've been pleased with mine; http://www.westersales.com/ Butch can set you up for you particuliar needs and is a fellow quadster. Also, I'm in know way swaying you away from this great site, but additional price break if your a member over there also. 2003 Pewter GMC Sierra Denali, 6.0L, WESTERS 93 HOT Tune, 4L60E-HD mod.,PML extra capacity tran. pan, 4.10/9.75R, Outlaw CAI, Corsa Touring/4.0 Pro tips, Magnacor wires, AC Delco irridiums, Dynatech header/powercats, LineX, cryo-powerslots, Hawk HPS, Stop-tech/Goodridge SS brake hoses, TYC carbon fiber tails, Black DDU grill, Autowoods Steering wheel, A/C filter retro-fit...for now |

Hi there,
After seeing some of the forums on here I went with the Westers tune last year and it has worked out well for me: http://westers_garage.eidnet.org/index2.htm Check out their website or give them a call. They have good customer service and support. Hope this helps! |

hey thanks for the direction. OK, so I will pass on the air intake. I have seen the post on the Wester's tune and looked at another one from another from Jesse Bubb at W4M Performance (which is half the price of Wester's). Not knowing anything about this process, I was a little cautious. Sounds like this is the way to go though. Any thoughts on W4MPCM performance or just pay the Wester's price?

I have not heard of those other guys, so I don't have an opinion sorry. I have only dealt with Westers.

I just did the Westers tune. Compaired to the Hypertechs and Suprchips I have used Westers is the way to go. Just be sure to put some miles on after you have installed the PCM.
